Client context
DEBRA is a charity supporting people affected by epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare and painful genetic skin condition. Like many charities, it delivers a wide range of services — to members, supporters, clinicians and partners — that depend on information held across several systems and teams.
The challenge
DEBRA had clear ambitions to improve its digital services and make better use of its data, but needed support translating broad digital, data and operational needs into clearer, structured delivery thinking.
The questions were practical: what exists today, where the gaps and risks are, what the organisation genuinely needs, and which improvements should come first.
Scope of the engagement
DebAkint was engaged to provide structured discovery and documentation, covering:
- Business and technical discovery with stakeholders
- Requirements gathering and current-state analysis
- Assessment of data, systems and how information flows
- Identification of practical technology opportunities
- Options, recommendations and a delivery roadmap
Discovery and assessment
We worked with stakeholders to understand services, processes and pain points, and reviewed the systems and data that support them. Findings were tested with the team as we went, so recommendations reflected how the organisation actually works rather than an idealised picture.

Recommendations and roadmap
The engagement concluded with prioritised recommendations and a phased roadmap, framing future work to enable better reporting, improved operational visibility and future digital improvements. Decisions on implementation rest with DEBRA.
Value created
The work moved DEBRA from broad transformation ambition towards clearer, more structured technology and data delivery thinking — with documentation the organisation can use to plan, prioritise and brief future delivery, whoever carries it out.
